Privacy Policy

Sakhuthingo Wellness (Pty) Ltd. (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy and processes personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy covers this website only. How we handle information in counselling sessions is explained to you separately, as part of professional practice.

1. Who is responsible

2. What we collect, and why

• Contact form: your name, email, phone number (optional), preferred contact method, reason for contact and message. We use these only to reply to your enquiry. Please do not include more sensitive detail than you are comfortable sharing by email.
• Reviews: the name you type, your star rating and comment. These are shown publicly beside the guide you reviewed. Use a first name if you prefer; please do not use your email address.
• Security data: your IP address is used briefly to limit spam and abuse (for example, how many reviews or sign-in attempts come from one address). These records are deleted automatically within about 24 hours.
• Site owner sign-in: the authorised email address and a login cookie. Visitors do not have accounts.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

3. Legal basis

We process information with your consent (you choose to submit a form or review), to respond to your request, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure.

4. Who we share it with

Only with service providers needed to run the site, and only as needed: our web hosting and email provider (which store and deliver the website and its email), and, if you use them, Google Fonts (loaded when you view pages) and Google Maps (loaded on the Contact page). Those providers may process technical data such as your IP address under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

5. Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie (sakhu_sid) that protects forms against abuse and, for the site owner, keeps them signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Google Fonts and Google Maps may set or read their own data when loaded.

6. How long we keep it

Contact enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with your request and our professional record-keeping obligations. Reviews stay until you ask us to remove them or we remove them. Security records are deleted within about 24 hours.

7. Keeping it safe

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect information, including HTTPS, protection against spam and unauthorised access, and restricting who can sign in to manage the site. No online system is perfectly secure, so please share only what you are comfortable sending.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm whether we hold your information, to see it, to correct or delete it, and to object to its processing. You may withdraw consent at any time. Email info@sakhuthingo.co.za and we will respond as soon as reasonably possible.

If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.

9. Children

This website is for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect children’s information through the website.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
